Project Description

Nestled beneath a footbridge staircase, our tea stall breathes life into overlooked urban voids, transforming neglected spaces into vibrant social hubs. In a city like Dhaka, where space is scarce and movement is constant, this small intervention offers a moment of pause, a place where people can gather, connect, and find relief from the relentless urban pace. We believe tea stalls are a break from our day-to-day life hassles- and making it like a Rest Stop creates the perfect sense.

Designed with portability in mind, the stall uses temporary partitions, allowing for easy assembly, disassembly, and relocation. Our Core Focus was Replicability- this flexibility makes it a replicable model, capable of revitalizing forgotten corners across the city. As there are many unused and underused Urvan Void to be utilized for social integration, this model can work as an Urban Oasis in midst of constant chaos of Dhaka. The contrast between the surrounding traffic chaos and the calm, shaded retreat creates a unique spatial experience-where the hum of the streets fades into the background as conversations over tea take center stage.

Beyond serving as a functional space, the stall embraces Dhaka's deep-rooted tea culture, reinforcing its role as a social cornerstone. The integration of greenery softens the harsh urban environment, providing a touch of nature amid the concrete landscape. This infusion of vegetation enhances not only the aesthetic appeal but also the comfort of those who gather here, making it more than just a refreshment stop-it becomes a community space.

By reclaiming unused spaces, our tea stall contributes to a more inclusive and livable city. It provides opportunities for economic activity, fosters human connections, and reimagines the potential of overlooked spaces. In its simplicity, it represents a powerful idea- that even the smallest interventions can create meaningful urban transformations.
