গল্পের টং : A Stall of stories

Project Description

In the heart of Dhaka's bustling TSC area, under the towering metro rail, lies an underutilized space with immense potential waiting to be reimagined. This project seeks to transform this negative space into a vibrant, dynamic community hub through a portable tea stall design. More than just a vendor's station, the concept breathes new life into an otherwise overlooked area, offering a flexible space where people can gather, interact, and exchange ideas over a cup of tea. Unlike the existing tea stalls in the vicinity, this design doesn't compete but rather extends the local tea culture, fostering inclusivity.

The space is structured yet adaptable, creating a welcoming environment for diverse groups of people. The primary feature of the design is its portability-the ability to move and set up the stall anywhere, giving vendors flexibility and the chance to generate income without being tied to a fixed location. To accommodate varying needs, two prototypes were developed. Prototype 1 is a smaller, more economical model that's easy to transport, ideal for vendors with limited investment. Prototype 2, on the other hand, provides more storage and larger space for those who wish to expand their operations.

Sustainability is central to this design, with materials like woven jute for the roof, which is locally sourced and biodegradable, providing heat insulation. Other eco-friendly materials such reclaimed wood reduce the environmental impact, making this project a testament to urban resilience and community-driven design.
