Project Description
Project Brief: The Storyteller's Suitcase - A Mobile Tea Stall for Public Spaces
Cities are full of stories-some told, some waiting to be discovered. The Storyteller's Suitcase is a mobile tea stall that turns everyday urban spaces into vibrant social hubs, using the simple act of sharing tea to bring people together. In fast-paced cities where moments of connection are rare, this stall creates opportunities for both tea and storytelling.
The experience begins when a man arrives with a suitcase that seems quite ordinary. But he sets it down and starts unfolding its compartments, and suddenly, the suitcase turns into a compact, functional tea stall. A foldable wooden surface becomes a preparation counter, while fabric pockets and tin containers hold tea essentials. Metal hinges with extendable legs provide stability, and battery-powered LED lights or solar lanterns ensure the stall functions day or night. With modular storage, foldable surfaces, and sustainable materials, it is designed for easy transport and quick setup in places like sidewalks, markets, and festivals.
The tea vendor is more than just a seller-they are a listener, a storyteller, and a collector of voices. Customers share their thoughts, memories, and everyday stories over a warm cup of tea. Whether it's political debates, personal struggles, or casual gossip, the tea stall becomes a space where conversations flow freely.
Made for mobility and flexibility, the stall is designed to create a gathering point wherever it's set up. More than just a tea stall, The Storyteller's Suitcase is an act of placemaking-using storytelling and shared experiences to create a sense of belonging. In a fast-moving world, it offers a simple yet powerful invitation: to pause, to connect, and to be present.
