Project Description

"Architecture should be a vessel for social change, fostering connections and creating spaces that empower individuals to come together and thrive as a community."     -Bjarke Ingels

"Vessels of Stories" is a modular, sustainable tea stall designed to be more than just a space for tea drinking—it is a community hub where tea, tales, and trails converge to foster connection, conversation, and belonging. Drawing from South Asia’s tradition of tea stalls as informal forums for dialogue, this design reimagines the tea stall as a space for community-building and shared experience.

The design emphasizes accessibility, adaptability, and sustainability. The modular cart, serving as both storage and stall, can be easily assembled or dismantled to suit urban or rural contexts, encouraging interaction across diverse settings. A smoke management system, solar panels, and a reusable cup system are incorporated to enhance environmental sustainability. Greens within the design not only beautify the space but contribute to a healthier environment, while a pet shelter adds a layer of compassion and inclusivity.

A dedicated reading zone and interactive wall panel invite visitors to engage with local stories and share their own, promoting a sense of community. Flexible seating ensures comfort for groups or individuals, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Ultimately, "Vessels of Stories" is a space where each cup of tea brews not just warmth but also connections—creating a vibrant community hub that brings people together to share stories, ideas, and experiences.
