Project Description

Concept

This tea stall on wheels reinterprets Bangladesh's vibrant street tea culture by developing an innovative, adaptive, and social design. It is more than a mere vendor cart, being a micro-social hub, Integrating commerce, sustainability, and cultural identity. With the integration of adaptive space elements and green materials, the stall is accessible without compromising mobility needed by street businesses.

Form Generation

From the iconic rickshaw hood design, the stall develops into a cuboid modular form of light metal and bamboo. The foldable expansion system supports dynamic adaptation in conformity with the space constraints.

Design Workflow

With user-centered, collaborative design, the project balances cultural identity, structural efficiency, and economic viability. Prototyping ensures flexibility and adaptability in many urban and semi-urban situations, optimizing durability, portability, and affordability. Sitting Space Steering away from conventional roadside stalls, the half-enclosed seating offers privacy and comfort, particularly addressing cultural issues for women. The seating elements, crafted from recycled drums cut into sections and redesigned, are not only eco-friendly but also ergonomic, matching the stall's multi-functional nature.

Waste Management

The stall has an innovative waste management and hygiene system in the shape of refurbished drums as washbasins and dustbins. The system promotes proper drainage, reduces littering, and fosters eco-friendly behavior in public spaces.

Material for Context

The stall is constructed using locally available bamboo, corrugated tin, and fabric canopies. Repurposing drums for sitting and for waste disposal promotes sustainability, affordability, and cultural responsiveness.

Combining tradition and modern flexibility, this street tea cart turns an everyday ritual into an open, creative, and green experience.
