Project Description
Concept: Build a Tea Stall for Your Handicapped Neighbor
Description:
In July 2024, many individuals lost their limbs and livelihoods, leaving them with limited opportunities for economic independence. This project aims to empower handicapped individuals by offering a path to reintegrate into society through a functional tea stall. It not only provides a means of livelihood but also addresses social stigma, offering hope and a space for community engagement.
Design Description:
The tea stall preserves traditional elements, including permanent, semi-permanent, and temporary designs with benches and canopies.
Incorporates "SpinEase," a circular rotating platform allowing standard wheelchairs to be placed securely.
The ceiling height of 11 feet ensures proper ventilation.
The canopy shutters are made of metal bars and recycled plastic, keeping costs low and sustainable.
A rainwater collection system and solar panels are integrated to address renewable energy needs.
Scope of the Project:
This project aims to provide a space for handicapped individuals while encouraging community engagement.
Neighbours can come together to build and decorate the tea stall, incorporating local art forms.
The 34-square-foot pod adapts for both temporary and permanent use, fostering a sense of community and providing livelihood opportunities.
Summary:
Materials: BDT 15,169
Labor: BDT 1,800 (for 2 days of work - without community participation)
Grand Total: BDT 16,969
(Community participation in collecting materials and labor cuts the cost by around 5000 BDT)
