Project Description
T & More is designed as a social catalyst, transforming the traditional tea stall into a multipurpose gathering space that fosters connections and shared experiences. More than just a place to drink tea, it offers opportunities for artistic expression, allowing customers to paint on tea cups, plant small trees, or even use the stall as a photoshoot backdrop. The inclusive design ensures accessibility for elderly individuals and wheelchair users, making it a welcoming space for all.
This tea stall embodies modular space generation, allowing for adaptability based on user needs. The mezzanine level serves as an elevated gathering spot for students, casual meetups, or storytelling sessions, while the tea maker efficiently serves both levels. The roof is designed for flexibility-in customer areas, it can be opened to the sky or covered with cloth for shade, while over the tea-making section, it is operable, ensuring better hygiene and ventilation. The stall can be placed anywhere near schools, mosques, markets, or open spaces, making it a truly dynamic and interactive public space.
The structure is a compact, lightweight, and easily assembled unit, crafted from bamboo, rope, unused buckets, and corrugated sheets-all sustainable, locally available materials. To minimize ground impact, the stall sits on a plinth foundation using buckets filled with sand and brick soiling, making it both stable and removable without harming the site. A three-layer drainage system ensures proper liquid waste management, while a smoke-free, efficient stove maintains a clean and comfortable environment.
Adaptability and efficiency are at the core of this design. The stall's movable and modular nature allows it to function as a temporary or permanent setup based on community needs. It can be expanded, relocated, or reconfigured to suit different urban and rural settings. The use of lightweight and easy-to-source materials ensures a low-cost yet durable structure, making it accessible to small business owners and tea vendors looking for a practical yet visually appealing space.
A tea stall is more than just a place to sell tea-it is a space for interaction, storytelling, and shared experiences. The design of T & More embraces this essence by creating a functional yet engaging environment that invites people to gather, communicate, and form new connections. The balance of openness and enclosure makes it a comfortable yet vibrant social space, where individuals can enjoy a moment of pause in their daily routine.
T & More is a visionary, modular, and adaptable tea stall, proving that a simple space can be functional, socially impactful, and creatively engaging-a true reflection of the evolving needs of the community.
Aesthetically, the cart is a vibrant celebration of Bangladeshi street culture. Inspired by rickshaw art, cinema art, and traditional motifs, it features intricate patterns and bold colors, giving each stall a unique identity. Whether positioned along a roadside or a bustling festival, this mobile tea stall serves as a vibrant hub for social interaction while upholding the craftsmanship of traditional rickshaw hood-making, rich painting traditions, and the enduring spirit of Bangladesh's street vending culture.
