Project Description
Shade & Sip is a contemporary yet culturally rooted tea stall design that reimagines the traditional Bangladeshi tea experience. Inspired by the nostalgic image of tea stalls under the shade of large trees, the design features a tree-like canopy that symbolizes comfort, community, and heritage. The open layout ensures visibility and inclusivity, inviting people from all walks of life to gather and enjoy a cup of tea.
The stall incorporates sustainable practices, using repurposed condensed milk cans as low-height interior walls. This not only promotes recycling and reusing but also adds a unique, rustic charm to the space. The lightweight tensile membrane roof ensures portability and adaptability, making it suitable for Dhaka's dynamic urban environment.
To enhance visual appeal, multi-colored fabric curtains hang beneath the canopy, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. These curtains, along with the open design, attract customers and foster a sense of connection and warmth. The stall's layout prioritizes functionality, with an ergonomic counter and efficient workflow for the tea seller.
Shade & Sip is more than just a tea stall; it is a cultural hub that celebrates tradition while embracing sustainability and innovation. By blending modern materials with traditional aesthetics, the design creates a space that is both visually striking and environmentally conscious. It aims to revive the charm of street-side tea culture, offering a refreshing experience that resonates with the community and promotes mindful consumption & redefines the tea stall as a space for connection, creativity, and sustainability.
