Project Description
A Riverside Teascape
Once upon a time, the life of trading, communication and social gathering within the people turned across the waterways in Bengal; with changing times, these very waterways now seem to be slowly fading away in the evolution of modern life.
পথ-পথিকের নোঙর (Wayfarer's Anchor) is a teascape that floats-nongiven traveler a point to ruminate about and connect with the long-forgotten stories of the river and its boats. But this is much more than a floating tea shop. It is memory itself in form of a boat. Here passersby could relish tea while feeling the breath of the river, listening to boatmen brushing their momentous journeys, and, as the sun goes would rest on the shoulders of the afternoon, Baul, Bhatiali, and Jari songs would resound their way through an evening sky. The space would be an assemblage of memorabilia associated with old sailors and touched by the art of rural craftsmanship.
More than just a tea shop, this floating sanctuary is very much a mixing of the past and the present-a living fragment. It rests tired travelers for a moment and brings back to life a lost voice of sailors, introduced to a new generation of travelers- the same for many centuries.
পথ-পথিকের নোঙর ( Wayfarer's Anchor)-a meeting point by the river where each and every wave touches someone's soul with a story, every cup has a story within itself-a heritage of timelessness that belongs to Bengal.
