Project Description
Our movable tea stall transforms urban streets into vibrant social hubs, fostering interaction and engagement among pedestrians. By activating underutilized spaces near parks, offices, and bus stops, it enhances street life and strengthens community ties. Its mobility ensures that it does not create permanent obstructions on sidewalks, maintaining smooth pedestrian flow while still serving as a gathering point. Additionally, it supports micro-entrepreneurship, allowing vendors to operate without the financial burden of renting a fixed space. The stall also adapts to the city's expansion, reaching newly developing areas where demand for street-side refreshments is growing.
Inspired by the traditional Bangladeshi van gari, our tea stall balances tradition with modern practicality. Measuring 1.5m x 1.3m x 1m, its compact design allows easy movement through dense city streets. The primary structure is made of durable hardwood, ensuring longevity, while corrugated tin sheet walls provide cost-effectiveness and practicality. A unique operable rear facade opens outward, displaying newspapers to engage customers in discussions. The right facade functions as a shading device, offering shelter. Inside, foldable seating encourages face-to-face social interaction. Serving tea, biscuits, cakes, and fried snacks, the stall integrates sustainability by including waste bins and using low-smoke gas stoves. This design creates a dynamic, eco-conscious space that blends tradition, mobility, and community interaction seamlessly.
