Project Description

Rustic Yet Traditional

In urban centers and rural landscapes alike, mobile tea stalls are cherished fixture, offering warmth and a sense of community. However, traditional tea stalls often lack efficiency and sustainability. The innovative mobile tea stall "Drum-Cha", crafted from repurposed oil drums, addresses these shortcomings by combining functionality, portability, and eco-friendliness. The drum is divided into multiple sections, each serving a specific purpose, ensuring space efficiency.

Design and Structure:

Foldable Inner Compartments:  The interior features foldable compartments for storing tea leaves, sugar, spices, cups, and other essentials. This collapsible design allows for easy transport and setup in various locations, maximizing space without sacrificing accessibility.

Sink and Water Gallon: A small sink is integrated into the design, connected to 2 water gallons stored at the right-bottom of the drum. This setup provides vendors with clean water for washing utensils and preparing tea, promoting hygiene and convenience as the second gallon is used to store the dirty water.

Stove and Storage Compartment: A separate half drum is dedicated to the stove, with the bottom half serving as storage for kerosene container and other utensils.

Rainwater Collection and Purification System: Above the main stall, another half drum collects rainwater, which is purified through a handmade four-step water filtration system. the purified water is later used for tea making reducing reliance on external sources and promoting sustainability.

Benefits of the Design:

Portability and Convenience: the compact, foldable design allows vendors to easily move the stall to different locations, maximizing their customer base.

Sustainability: By repurposing oil drums and incorporating a rainwater collection system, the design minimizes waste and reduces the need for disposable items.

Hygiene and Safety: The inclusion of a sink and dedicated fuel storage ensures high hygiene standards and reduces accident risks.

Cost-Effectiveness: The use of repurposed materials and integrated functionalities makes this tea stall an affordable option for small-scale vendors, while the rainwater system lowers water costs.

Community and Cultural Impact: Drum-Cha fosters community interaction and serves as a cultural icon, inspiring others to adopt eco-friendly practices.
