Project Description

Raising a cup, reviving connections one rooftop at a time

The narrow alleys of Old Dhaka represent the distance among its residents - an arm's length at best. This camaraderie blooms from people spending their moments of respite together while drink

ing a warm cup of tea at their local tong. As the height of complexes rise in urbanized spaces, the warmth of these teacups falters, and we often find ourselves wondering: Who are these people in our daily elevator rides?

Tongs in our concrete jungles are hardly visited by those living in apartments, and before we tackle this divide, we should reckon the one right in our homes.

The solution? CommuniTEA - a portable, modular, easy-to-set-up tea-station that transforms your rooftop into a cozy social hub that can fit into a 48x48ft space. Designed for mobility, it includes a small gas stove for tea and a curated menu of local snacks. With comfortable seating and artefacts placed for intimate gatherings, it fosters a welcoming space where any discussion topics are welcome over a shared love for tea.

But tea is just the beginning.

Just as tea embodies a deep-rooted love for our culture, we aim to bring experiences that celebrate our traditions. There is something for everyone - screening classic movies and book clubs for culture enthusiasts, kite flying to rekindle childhood nostalgia, or unmissable live sports screenings that inspire our national fighting spirit. Tea will be the common thread weaving everything together, ensuring your evenings are full of warmth, connection, and tradition; with a cup of tea on hand of course.
