Project Description

This tea stall design is a unique blend of cultural heritage and modern sustainability. Crafted for mobility, it features wheels that allow easy relocation, paired with a fold-unfold mechanism for compactness during transit and expansion when needed. The walls serve dual purposes as both seating and a counter, maximizing functionality in a limited space.

The design integrates the BONDHU CHULA, a traditional, eco-friendly stove used in Bangladesh. Covered with clay, the stove is equipped with a chimney pipe to efficiently direct smoke outside, ensuring a comfortable environment for users.

A dedicated plant corner adds greenery and aesthetics, featuring mint, tulsi, and lemongrass, which contribute to the fresh tea experience. Sustainability is at the core of the design, with repurposed plastic fruit and vegetable baskets used as seating. These are woven with jute rope, adding a cultural touch and comfort.

The stall's aesthetic is enriched with traditional Nakshi Kantha patterns, adorning the temporary fabric shade that provides shade and visual appeal. The paintings of Jamini Roy, a renowned Bangladeshi artist, further strengthen the cultural connection, bringing a touch of local artistry. Arch-shaped openings are incorporated into the design, reflecting the architectural heritage of Bangladesh, reminiscent of the style found in Jamindar baris.

This tea stall is not just a functional space; it is a moving celebration of Bangladesh's rich culture, sustainability, and creativity.
