Project Description

The Newari Rath Tea Stall is not just a place to grab a cup of tea—it's a celebration of culture on wheels. Inspired by the Newari rath i.e. chariots that roll through the streets during Newari festivals. This portable tea stall is a warm and inviting space where tradition meets our everyday life.

The idea is to capture the essence of a traditional rath. This stall features traditional woodwork, pagoda-style details, and various elements resembling temples and festival chariots. From its finely carved panels to its earthy colors and wooden wheels, every detail is crafted to reflect the rich temple architectural heritage while making it functional and simple to use.

The stall with lightweight yet durable materials, is designed for effortless mobility. Its foldable panels and modular design allow for quick setup and easy transportation, with convenient storage spaces and accessible counter making it an effective working space.

But this stall is not only a shop—it's a traveling celebration of Newari craftsmanship. It invites people to pause, enjoy a warm cup of tea, and immerse themselves in the artistry and culture that make Nepal so special. By bringing this rath to the streets, we hope to keep tradition alive in a way that feels fresh, functional, and full of life.

The Chiya Rath Tea Stall isn't just about design—it's about people, stories, and the shared experience and tradition on the go.
