Project Description

According to author Ray Oldenburg, third places are spaces used by people to escape the routine of home and work. Tea stalls act as potent third places. As lives are becoming more mechanized and social spaces are shrinking, third places can fight the lack of accessible, inclusive social places and enhance the experience of the city for the people.

For this I design a Tea Stall which helps people to escape from their monotonous circle of life. Tea stalls are local structures within the urban and rural area, and have always been a hub of social interaction. It also helps to create a great impact in the community.

1. Understanding the Essence of Festivals in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi festivals such as Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year), Durga Puja, Eid, Bishwa Ijtema, and Nabanna Utsab-are deeply rooted in community gathering, vibrant expressions, temporality, and ritualistic movements. They transform urban and rural spaces into dynamic, interactive environments.

I try to create the vibrant image of Bangladeshi festival by colourful clothing which attracts people from all over. Bertrand Russell theorized that if one part of life appears habitual and routinized, then the other should be open and indeterminate.e, they also offer the pleasure of 'sense of oneness' - found in collective behaviors or crowd experiences.

A home away from home

a) a center around which people arrange their comings and goings

b) a place where people feel in control

c) where they are replenished and restored

d) where people feel the freedom to act out their authentic personality

e) warmth.

Architecturally, the pavilion deliberately contrasts urban surroundings, serving as a captivating visual focal point that enlivens public events and activates urban spaces.

For low cost, I use wooden modules of 6 feet by 6 feet and for sitting reuse plastic crates with wooden plates. Which is ergonomically cause least space in any other context.
