A Place Of Stories

Project Description

Tea is more than just a beverage-it is an experience that soothes the mind and fosters connection. Positioned along a busy roadside in Mohammadpur, in front of Bangladesh University and near garment factories, our tea stall is designed as a peaceful escape from the surrounding hustle and bustle. It tackles challenges like noise, dust, and congestion through a well-thought-out spatial approach.

The stall is shaped using a "subtracted cube" concept, forming an intimate 8x8-foot core within a total 14x16-foot footprint. This geometric design maximizes space efficiency while adapting to site constraints. A cen-tral seating area forms the heart of the stall, complemented by a designated smoking zone and a direct roadside entry for accessibility. Behind the stall, additional seating offers students a relaxed space to gather, fostering a sense of community over shared moments of tea.

To enhance comfort, the design integrates layered elements that reduce dust and buffer noise pollution. Locally sourced materials such as cement, wood, and steel ensure both cost-effectiveness and sustainability, reinforcing the stall's connection to its environment. The space caters primarily to students (80%) while also welcoming local residents (20%), creating a dynamic yet harmonious social setting.

Beyond serving tea, the stall offers a sanctuary-a thoughtfully crafted space where visitors can pause, relax, and immerse themselves in the simple yet profound ritual of tea drinking. It transforms an everyday act into a mean-ingful experience, providing a refuge amidst urban chaos.
