Project Description

A Tea stall Designed for The Transgender

Project Overview:

This project envisions a sustainable tea stall for the transgender designed to empower the transgender community. It serves as both a tea stall and a retail space for handmade goods crafted by transgender artisans.

Site Selection:

The site is located in Bridge Mor Bus Stand, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. This place remains bustling with activity from early morning until late at night, as travelers, commuters, and locals pass through constantly.

Design Concept:

The stall is constructed using repurposed shipping containers, making it an eco-friendly and cost- effective structure. It features an open-air semi-public seating area outside the container, creating a welcoming space for social interaction and engagement. Solar panels installed on the roof provide a renewable source of electricity for lighting and essential appliances, ensuring sustainable operation. Water drums are attached to the container to maintain water supply for tea preparation and sanitation, prioritizing hygiene and safety.

Additional Features:

In addition to serving tea, It includes a retail section displaying handcrafted products made by transgender individuals. These items include jewelry, unisex outfits, and various handicrafts, providing economic opportunities and promoting their artistic talents.

Project Value:

This location provides a platform for transgender entrepreneurs to integrate into mainstream commerce, fostering inclusivity and social acceptance.

By combining sustainability, economic empowerment, and social integration, this tea stall serves as a transformative model for community-driven initiatives, supporting both the transgender community and broader society.
